I have the Bondi 4 and wear them occassionally. I had one of the earlier Bondi models awhile back, maybe the 2s, they seemed to fit me better. The 4s I have now feel too narrow and clunky. I'm on my 4th pair of Cliftons, and unless they make some drastic change, it will probably continue to be my go to road shoe.

#1027- 7.6 mi
#1028- 7.5 mi
#1029-12 mi, knee was giving me issues and had to ice elevate and wrap afterwards
#1030- 4 mi, easy run, resting knee
#1031- 50k (31 mi) with 6900ft gain. I was set on running 50k. I set my watch to metric. I tried to make alot more noise, clapping etc... and the bears left me alone. Ran into another rattlesnake though. It was making its way across the trail when I came over a small mound. I got closer than either of us wanted and it gave me two quick shakes of its tail and moved off the trail. I also ran into some wild turkeys that I first thought was a stubborn bear that wouldn't clear out despite me making a ton of noise. I almost turned around and changed course, and would have ended up with closer to 35 miles, but I wanted to be done so decided to be brave (with 2 hikers who happened be nearby) and tentatively made my way up the trail. I was thrilled when I found it was just turkeys. Felt fresh at the end, but had some tough moments because of the heat and humidity.
#1032-3.1 mi recovery
#1033- 6.2 mi
#1034- 2 mi. I would have ran more, but alas, I was up early for a long drive to a crab and beer festival! I ate 23 crabs, drank some good beer, and gained 8.4 pounds from this morning to when I got home.

Friday - #754 - 2 miles easy at lunch, Detroit Tigers game in the evening
Saturday - #755 - 2 miles easy in the early afternoon after about 4 hours in the car due to traffic backups from accidents and construction
Sunday - #756 - 3.1 miles in the Ludington tri. I won my AG for the first time ever, 11th overall. 24:15 5K after an incredibly windy bike - including the run from transition with my bike, I was averaging 25mph on the way out, and then turned right around into a brick wall of wind for the way back. Brutal. My legs were working hard, so it took me most of a mile to shake that out and get moving on the run. Think I would've been around 24:00 for the 5K but for the first time ever during a tri, I had to stop to tie a shoe with about .75 miles left. Cost me a few seconds to be certain...frustrated with myself for not getting quick laces on my new shoes yet.

Great job, and nice to see the run worked out for you (save the laces).

Thanks. I know my run times are pretty slow in comparison to how you run, but that was a pretty good run for me. I feel like I am actually starting to turn a corner on some of the running. My "easy" runs are just naturally at a much faster pace now than they used to be, and I think I have a lot of ground I can gain yet.

Monday - #757 - 2 miles easy - some kind of flu or something wiped me out for the whole day
Tuesday - #758 - another 2 miles easy still fighting that same thing, but starting to feel a little better slowly

The biggest scare (more of a startle, I guess) I've had in the bush was caused by a gigantic wild turkey popping out of some trees behind me.

Congrats on this.

#22 - 1.1
#23 - 2.1
#24 - 2.3
#25 - 2.3
#26 - 2.3
#27 - 1.4
#28 - 3.2

Not quite a 15 mile week, but it's my longest week of Streak 3 and I might manage 55 miles for the month.

Its all relative. For just about everyone there are plenty of people who are faster, but in the end, most everyone is just trying to have their best race. And for me, regardless of where I end up, if I raced well, I feel good. And if I worried about people being faster, I'd probably quit after every swim leg of my triathons!

Its been a good week of training, I had a week of vacation, and the kids were away with their grandparents. So I ran alot! (just shy of 100 miles) Kids are back, and school is starting so I will have to be creative to get any good training in over the next two weeks or so. I am about 4 and 1/2 weeks out and feel pretty good.

#1035- 6.5 mi trail with my wife
#1036- 16 trail miles
#1037-13.1 mi
#1038-13.1 mi, same as day before
#1039- 3.1 mi recovery
#1040- 35 mi trail, 7800+ feet of gain, did 3 x 10 mile loops, then 5 miles out and back. My pace was good for a sub 24 hour 100 miler on similar terrain, if I could keep it up, but I'm not really sure I could go sub 24, or if I should go out that fast.
#1041- 4 mi trail with my wife
#1042- 7.5 mi trail with my wife

#1043- 13.1 mi
#1044- 10 mi
#1045- 2 mi before 14 hour shift at work
#1046- 7 mi at night, really starting to notice the shorter days
#1047-11 mi, approx 4000 ft gain/4000 ft loss, averaged 372 ft of gain per mile. I substituted this as my long run this week. I didn't have a whole day to get a long run in.
#1048-- 8.1 mi trail
#1049- 2 mi, took kids to beach

Should get two good runs in over the next two days, then its pretty much taper time.

#1050- 8.1 mi trail, tried to run at a "tempo" pace. which on this set of trails is approx. 9 min/mi

#1051- 4.3 mi night run in the mountains at 3 am and 6.3 mi up and down a 300+ foot hill six times in 98 degree heat, both on trails.

I had planned to get up early and do a long run starting pre-dawn and test my night running and headlamps. I couldn't fall asleep so I got out of bed at around 12:30 and was out of the house a bit after 1 am. I figured it would be good practice to run while tired. I went up to the Appalachian Trail and Mt. Tammany and got there just before 3 am. It was very dark with a light fog and a bit of moonlight (not much on one side of the mountain). I ended up doing a short out and back along the AT to set my gear, and up and over Mt. Tammany once.

On the way up I felt great. It was about 65 degrees, humid, but still a welcome change from my daytime running lately. It was exhilarating being out there all alone, and was having a grand old time UNTIL I pretty much stepped right on a rattlesnake. Luckily it didn't strike, and luckily it was between two fist size rocks. My foot came down right on top of it, but since I was on the rocks I had about 1 inch of clearance. And that is no exaggeration. I may have even stepped on it a bit. When I saw the back half of the snake in front of me I JUMPED high and far, like I had a spring under my foot.

So after that it was pretty much, NOPE, I'm done with running tonight. I ran down the back half of the mountain and right to my car. I thought about going back out, but that snake really took the wind out of my sails so to speak. I didn't get the training run I had wanted, so I did run again later in the afternoon of the same day. I had some struggles. For one, I had just taken my wife out to lunch and was really full, and two, it was 98 degrees out with the heat index over 100, (and three I'd really not slept since the previous night.) With my full stomach I had a hard time drinking keeping down fluids and ran about 90 minutes before I decided to call it because I was getting pretty dehydrated, the tiredness wasn't really a factor.

I may go out and do a midnight run in the mountains tomorrow night after work. I have a 14 hour shift, but the next day off. I don't feel that I HAVE to do it, but I feel like I need redemption after last night. I got about 3 weeks before my race and it may be prudent just to stay safe since the "hay is in the barn."

I'm always fascinated to read your runs through nature accounts. This is like another world to me. Glad you didn't have to deal with that rattler anymore than nearly giving yourself a heart attack.

It's really another world to me too. I've only been running in bear/snake country for the last couple of months. I've gotten adjusted to the bears, somewhat. But the snakes still freak me out. Of the 3 rattlesnakes that I've been unlucky enough to get too close to recently, only one has actually rattled. They just kind of hang out quietly. Bears make plenty of noise most of the time, and I've gotten better at making noise when I can't see the trail ahead.

#1052- 2 mi early, 14 hour workday
#1053- 10 mi trail run in the rain
#1054- 2 mi early, 14 hour workday
#1055- 8 mile tempo on roads, was cruising, I probably strained my calf on this run.
#1056- 4 mi started fast again, but had a bit of a knot in my calf, ran the last mile really slowly just to get home
#1057- 4 mi trail, nice and easy, calf a bit better. I feel very strong aside from that, which is probably why I hurt myself a bit. Doing the crazy hill running I've been doing has gotten my heart and quads feeling really strong, but I think I'm a bit tight in the hamstrings and calves from the miles and hills, I really haven't been running fast lately

Saturday - #783 - 3.1 miles on a packed down grass trail for a local triathlon in which we pushed a special needs kid through the race. It was kind of rough on my legs because I was running to the side of the cart and holding on to it and pulling it while on some uneven ground. My legs were very tight after this.
