Swim
Comments: We kept a slow steady pace throughout. We swam over a couple of sandbars, which I walked across while slowing up. As we came to shore we found that we had to run under a net (the turtle crawl). Too funny watching people do it! What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Mistake two, nothing new on race day. Oh, this was fun, I actually took my 20 year old MTB with the 2" tires. It worked well through the sand pit, however the wheel rub was a bit annoying, so if I do this again, I'll have to get a new set of rims. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Mistake 3 was that the preparation for the beach run was nonexistent. We wound up walking a lot. But by that time we were wet from the tube crawl and we just wanted to get done. In our favor is the fact that we almost caught the Justice League of America. Ann said she felt like we were in an episode of Big Bang Theory. :) Post race
Warm down: Beer line. Event comments: The race is just something we did so that Ann could experience a triathlon. And so we could just have fun with a bit of a goal. It was a blast. Last updated: 2012-09-04 12:00 AM

I committed a few cardinal sins in this race, but since this one was just a goofy deal it didn't matter. Any pre-race that has you entering the transition next to a 2 person bike and a lady with her calf marked as "38 & on Meds", well that just ought to tell you all you need to know. BTW, we saw the lady and her friends a few times and they were hilarious.
OK, this event is advertised as a fun race and we took it that way. I planned to keep next to Ann the entire race. This is where I made mistake # one. I had no idea what the course was. Talk about a learning experience, I had to not only figure it out as we went, but help both Ann and my sister through the whole deal.
