I did my first HIM in Augusta sept 30, and I was planning to do the Savannah Rock and Roll marathon Nov 3.  However I was on my long run last saturday and my feet started hurting about mile 15.  I quit about mile 18, and the next day the arches of my feet really hurt.  I did a 3 miles that day.  My arches have hurt all week, so I only ran thursday for 6 miles, about mile 5 they started hurting, so I called it quits.  I'd been running 25 miles per week up until the HIM, then I tried 35 the week after, then I was up to 38 the week I hurt my feet.  Should I lay off even more till my feet feel better?  If they still don't feel 100% by Nov. 3, should I just do the half marathon instead?  This is new territory for me, first marathon.

Going from 25 to 35 miles in a week is probably the issue. You really shouldn't add 30% that quickly.  Could also be time for new shoes. I'd probably go with the 1/2 if you haven't followed a good marathon training plan with the needed miles.
