Age Group Rank = 5/27
Event warmup:

No warmup per se except to run around watching my son in the youth duathlon

got to starting line just before the gun went off, because dealing with my sons finish in youth race
Run
  • 13m 28s
  • 1.8 miles
  • 07m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

decent run for me,...(transition times were not seperated so I am not sure where they added the time) I am not overly fast and could have probably pushed a little bit more but found a woman in front of me who I paced myself off of, I figured that I am stronger on the bike and would catch those really fast runners, and all the others ahead of me who I dont catch are just faster than me anyway.....i was 60th on the first run out of 256
What would you do differently?:

wanted to break 1 hr and missed by 3 seconds so maybe push the pace to a 7:20 mile
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No one was given a T1 time and not sure if it was added to the run or bike.....I think it was added to the bike ???

otherwise it seemed OK
Bike
  • 31m 35s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 19.95 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my strong point today.....since a demorilizing HIM bike leg last year, I really spent a lot of time on the trainer and it paid off....as I am writing this I just saw posted that I had the 21st fastest bike segment/256 which really shocks me, because I used to be a pathetic biker.
Also I ride a stock FELT B16 with stock wheels and no aero helmet etc.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

no t2 time given...probably in bike or run segment
Run
  • 15m 1s
  • 1.8 miles
  • 08m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

legs felt heavy as usual in first quarter mile, if I split hairs I would have liked to be a little closer to my first run time (+- 30 secs) but overall very happy
What would you do differently?:

nothing but maybe a little more killer instinct on the run since I was essentially running by myself
Post race
Warm down:

couple bagels...hung out with wife kids and family till results posted

Event comments:

Eventpowerli puts on great races overall, and Carl Hart is the bike shop I use all the time. Only thing is I wish the check in went a little quicker but that is something I see with most companies and races I do and not just them....however maybe I just get a little impatient...also I had to check in my son and then myself

I ride a stock FELT B16 with stock wheels and no aero helmet etc.

I ride a Felt B16 with Zipp 808/404 combo with other goodies and you ripped me a new one!! Great Job!!! This race had a very deep field. I saw at least 30 1/2 IM and Full IM emblems in the parking lot and I was not looking. Again, Great Job!!!

Scott congrats on great race and effort. Your runs were both very solid and you did a great job on the bike. I was thinking about you yesterday and I was glad to see that you had decent weather for the race. I hope your son had a great time and a great race as well.
