Subject: Painful Leg Stuble

I'm a Tri newbie, who was cursed with Sasquatch legs. (every male in my family are Sasquatches LOL)

After I finally shaved them for the first time, everything hurt.

Every time I would apply lotion, or get cold chills especially, it was like a thousand tiny needles pricking me in the legs! I told myself I would rather be cycling Sasquatch than feel the stabbing pain I felt.

Any good tips on how to keep the stubble away and save me from this agony?

Exfoliate! Regularly use bath gloves or a loofah to rub off dead skin so the hairs do not "ingrow".

Shave with the grain or side to side.

Going against the grain will cause in grown hairs.

I shave using a hai clipper. Not as short as a razor, but avoids the burn I think you're feeling!

Try 7,000 centigray (70 rads) of radiation therapy to your legs.  Yeah, it'll be the most painful thing you've ever experienced in your life and it'll only cost about $9,000 even if you have insurance...

But I GUARANTEE all of the hair on your legs will be fried off and you'll never have to shave them ever again!

OK, seriously...

They don't call me BigFUZZYDoug for nothing.  My answer to you fellow Sasquatchian...

DON'T shave.  Phillips Body Groomer with a 1-guard on your legs about once a month.  It'll trim it down to near invisible and gone, but not shave so as to have to worry about ingrown hairs, stubble, and burn.

Shave with the grain or side to side.

Going against the grain will cause in grown hairs.

Maybe the mens are different than the wimminz, but I would give the opposite advice. Always shave AGAINST the grain on the legs.

Also the more you do it, the thinner the hair should grow back. Should...

I had to give up on the shaving and/or all forms of hair removal.  The only think I didn't try is a full blow body wax.

Shaving with the grain left me less than smooth and prickly and even MORE prickly in about half a day.

against the grain left me smoother, but rash and pain the next day and for the next several weeks.

Nair or chemicals cause burning and rash/bumps and didn't do that great a job.

Tried with hot water/cold water/no water.  Creams/gels.  Exfoliate.  Tried to stick it out to see if it got better and it only got worse.

Other than looking interesting and good for massages, there is no reason anyway and all the effort and discomfort I have to deal with for it not worth it to me.

At one point I too had the legs of a sasquach. Just keep it up. I started with clippers then moved to shaving with the growth (downward). and now am able to shave against the growth (upward).

and just a heads up, your female friends may begin to get jealous when your legs are smoother than theirs. Cool

PS, what ever you do DO NOT use Nair !!!! Surprised

Right? Against the grain or the hair doesn't come off!

When I shave I have to be in a WARM bathroom. If the AC comes on and I get chilled, I get goose bumps and then razor burn. I use shave gel, generously when shaving to ensure I don't get razor burn. After shaving, I can put baby oil on my legs (been doing it so long it doesn't bother them), but I can't put lotion/perfume/etc. If I do, my legs will burn.
