I am looking to get some new tires. I used the Mich Pro 3s for a while and am thinking of going to Conti's Any suggestions on the Conti's and which ones? OR anything else out there that you find good for races. The roads I race on are not the most smooth up here in the PNW, so please keep that in mind. Thanks for ht info.

For clinchers, I would recommend Continental GP4000S (and that S is important). Very good wear, good puncture resistance and the first clincher that I ever rode that had the road close to a tubular, just very good tires.

Gatorskins... not just a name. They foster confidence in flat prevention (for me).

In every one of these threads that pop up, I toss out my favorite:  Vredestein Fortezza TriComp.

Great for training and racing.

race and training? I agree the 4000s are the way to go.

Just race? Supersonics or Vittoria Corsa Evo's

Vittoria Diamante Pros have a great mix of ride (220 TPI casing makes for a very supple ride), grip, price, and tread life.  They're not the most durable tires - I've noticed more punctures than with the pro3 races I used prior, and have had one irreparable sidewall tear (which was my fault - I was wearing dark sunglasses through a tunnel at about 20 mph, and didn't see a rock on the road).

Definitely stay away from Maxxis Re-Fuse.  I just picked up a pair for my wife's bike, but ended up using them on my own spare wheelset as they were so incredibly difficult to mount up (and would be nearly impossible for my less experienced spouse).  The bead fit isn't terrible (on the tight side of normal), but the casing is so thick that it's nearly impossible to get them to cooperate with a tube.  Hopefully, their durability will make up for the difficulty of use; I'd hate to have to change a tube on a ride.

Saw these tires on bike tires direct and wonder if anybody has any experience with them,  Price sure seems right.  Needing some new tires for the bike this summer and these might fit the bill
