My wife is on the Board of the Topeka Ronald McDonald House.  Their fundraising benefit run is on Saturday morning, April 27th, at 8:00 AM in Topeka on the west side of Lake Shawnee.  I will be entering and planning to do a training ride "brick" after the awards ceremony.  I would love for as many of you as possible to sign up for the benefit run.  Would also like to have a group ride after for anyone who might be interested.

Here is the link to the registration and race info:  http://www.enter2run.com/search/event.aspx?id=18962

Hope to see you there!  Let m eknow if you want to do a group ride after.  Some great routes out that way.  Could ride the Tinman course for anyone wanting to preview it.

That sounds cool. That's one of the few Saturday's I'm not booked with soccer games, although I'm not sure what my wife has planned.  I'll let you know later this month.

Is that 5K also on the same Tinman track?

I am registered again for Tinman so it would be fun to ride the bike course again.  That was my 1st tri last year and I really had NO idea what I was doing (still don't).

It is on part of the Tinman course if you do the long distance.  It starts on the west side of the lake (Tinman is on the east side) and runs north to the dam, across the dam to the east, does a turnaround, and back over the dam to the finish line on the west side.  So it won't give you much of a feel for the Tinman run course unless you do the long course, then only a 1.5 mile portion.

But it is fun, low key, for a good cause, and is an excuse to do a ride on the Tinman course after.

Sounds fun, Patrick, but I will be in San Diego that weekend. Yes I'm bragging.  Looking to ride the Tinman loop before the race, though...

And in looking at the Ronald McDonald house FB page for NE Kansas, look who's on the cover photo...

Finished 4th overall with a 19:36.  Just don't have the speed work in to keep up with the young'uns in the last 1/2 mile.  Smile  Just finished a 47 mile ride and averaged exactly 21.0mph.  Pretty happy with that, too.  Will try to get a long, slow run in tomorrow to recuperate then enjoy an afternoon of temps on the upper 70's with my family!!!

You're ready for a great race, I'm barely ready to finish this year.  Weather just hasn't been good and looks to be getting bad again this week
