Howdy.  I would like to start doing some yoga first thing in the morning - 20-30 minutes or so.  Any suggestions for good beginner DVDs or podcasts I could use?  Just 2 or 3 generic "wake up" routines would be perfect.  Thanks :-)

You may want to consider Yoga for Athletes.  It has routines of varying lengths and intensities that are sports specific including routines for swimming, running, and cycling.

Amazon currently has it on sale for $7.99.

I'm a fan of yogadownload.com. The 20-minute classes are free and you can print off pose guides. If you end up liking it, the hour-long classes are only five buck or so and you have them forever.

+1 I've done this as well. I have several on my ipod and use them when traveling.

Five 20-minute routines for less than 10 bucks. I like Sara's demeanor. Rodney Yee is also great.

I just started doing yoga about three weeks ago. Not sure if it's the yoga or my current running streak, but I've been markedly faster over the last 10 days or so. As a total cheapskate, I've been doing routines I find on youtube and on demand from my cable box. Here are some that I like.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IlzyuRQwsc- Injury Prevention for Runners - 20 minutes - She also has a pre-run and post-run routine that I like almost as much.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlgDPA9o21A- Part of a training package for the SeaWheeze half marathon - 35 minutes - I've done a couple of the other SeaWheeze yoga videos and they are good too, but this is one I really like.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7YChJ8yyMI- Yoga for Athletes - 27 minutes - This one's pretty hard. I bail on a number of his poses, and I don't do the sequence where he balances on his head.

I've tried out a few others, but most of them I wouldn't go back to. I really only care about the stretching and the breathing, and I tend to tune out when there is too much talk about chakras and third eyes and my spirit. I'd appreciate other suggestions if people have them. Nothing but running has left me lacking in flexibility and upper body strength.

Ideally I would suggest paying for a couple of classes. That way you can get the feel for what many of the basic moves are supposed to be like. I took yoga for a year or so, so the dvd's and books make sense to me.

After that a DVD is a rather nice thing to use. I have personally used this one and find it very nice: http://www.gaiam.com/yoga-dvds/yoga-for-athletes/91-0217,default,pd.html?start=40&cgid=3010200

Rodney Yee is rather easy to follow I find. But look at the length of the videos and pick one that fits your time frame. It is best to follow the whole program and not just get part way through. Yoga is usually following a set of moves designed to lead to the next move.

IMO, this is very good information.
