So just wanted to share my wonderful news (at least wonderful to me).

Last week my five year old son finally learned to ride his bike without training wheels!!!! I"m so proud of him. He put in a lot of work and fell more times than I can count.

Keep in mind he was considered a failure to thrive baby, he now has a slight hearing problem, speach delay, occupational therapy, speach tharapy, and is short for his age.

He's gone from probably not going to live to tearing down the park bike path now as a young and healthy boy.

So proud of him.....

OUTSTANDING!!

I remember when they said my daughter would never do well in life.  She, too, started life in a bad way.  She even actually had died en utero.  She started talking late, was small for her age for quite some time, and had issues with motor skills as well.
Today, she's got slight speech troubles, no motor skill problems, and stands nearly 5' 3" (taller than some girls 2 years older) at age 10.  She also learned to ride a bike, albeit at age 9, with no help from Mom and Dad... she just grabbed one of her brothers' bikes and took off... blew my mind!

Congrats again to your son!  It won't be long before he's wanting a better and faster bike!

That is awesome!

I just helped my daughter practice for the first time. It took longer to put on all of the pads than she actually sat on the bike. She said "Maybe when I'm 6". I guess we have a long way to go.

Congratulations for this proud moment!

Nice to read such a feel good post on a drizzly grey Melbourne Monday morning.  Brought a tear to my eye.

Well done to your son - and to you. Laughing
