You're here and you are ready to make a lifestyle change.
What is, is. When I feel hopeless I remember how years ago I felt that way and now I can see how time passed and so much change was possible.
Healthy food choices, getting out and moving, you won't drop 80 lbs in 6 months, but you will be lighter. You'll feel better and look better. Six months more and you'll be better still.

Face that scale, but remember you are more than a number on the scale. The number is what it is, doesn't really matter - you make good choices and the number will come down.

Aknowledge it & push forward. What has helped me keep it off is to see a nutritionist who will hold you accountable & someone that weighs you. You can do it!

eppie - 2013-04-28 10:07 PM Thanks for kind words.  I did weigh in for myself the other night to confront a concrete number. I needed the reality check and also some kind feedback from strangers.  I genuinely appreciate both replies.  208 working number from here and looking forward to getting my feel good body back, day by day. Thanks again, E

I agree E, it is a day by day process. It's tough when one starts, and it's tough with that last 10. Here's to taking care of ourselves, one day at a time.

((hugs))

As others have said you've made the first step in acknowledging it.  I for one lived in years of denial as I watched the scale climb.  I would self enable by making sure to "suck in" for pictures, and just got bigger clothes.

Then one day I was smacked in the face with it and made the decision to acknowledge and even embrace it as a challenge.  That was 16 months and 60 lbs. ago.  And yes from time to time I've put 5 or 10 back on, but because I have made myself aware and vigilant I was quick to make adjustments to get it back down and under control.

Step one acknowledge it (which you've already done), step two is to get a plan in place to reverse it, and stick with it.

Good luck.

Don't tell yourself it is hopeless.
Celebrate every victory.
Don't give up a whole day because of a small slip.

I recently heard the term 'slip' used in place of 'falling off the wagon'. 'Slip' sounds more like something you can recover from while still going forward. 'Falling off he wagon" sounds like a terrible disaster in contrast.
