Subject: Black Bear Sprint 2013

Who's doing this?!  I can't be the only one!
Anyone done it in the past? 
How is the sprint bike course?

Anyone planning or done any OWS yet?!

Think I bit off more than I can chew with this race as a season opener, but I just want to finish....!

I'm doing it this year and I did it last year.  Be prepared for lots of hills on the bike course - and these are mostly sharp uphill climbs that are fairly lengthy.  CGI provides OWS practice the day before the race.

worse hills than what's around Main Line area?  Was your average speed on course slower than your usual average?

Well, I will attempt to finish! I know I can do it, it's just not going to be pretty!

I did the sprint a few years ago.  My average speed in the race was very close to my usual training average (I ride mostly S/W of Main Line area, but similar terrain).

Looks like they changed the run course this year for the sprint.

I just tried to register and it was $154 for the SPRINT!!!!
Holy cow, I don't know if I can justify that. They had an un-posted $12 processing fee plus $16 for race day packet pickup. OUCH.


Other season opener suggestions?
