Anyone else read the book Slow Fat Triathlete by Jayne...something?

I'm in the middle of reading it now and find it hilarious and refreshing to have a book of experiences instead of straight up training plans. You should check it out!

I loved this book! It was nice to have some "real person" experience instead of "professional" experience. She is hilarious - it was tons of fun to read and super useful. Check it out for sure!

I LOVE this book!  I want to buy it for any friend interested in doing a triatholon, I'm just scared the title would offend them.  Like I think they are slow or fat.  I am not fat at all but I love how the author is so relatable and excited about the sport.  I think it's a great book.

I finished reading this book last week and really enjoyed it. I also picked up traithlon 101 and read this as a warm up to that. Great book if you are looking for a morale booster. She kind of guides you through what she wishes somebody would have showed her first.

Best advice gleaned form the pages is get off the couch and get out there. There is no other way. So go Tri.

I loved the book too, but BOMOPER and Very Slightly Overweight Triathlete would be more accurate. Love the subtitle, though.

Yes, the book helped me overcome my embarrassment at being fatter and slower than any human I'd ever observed that called themselves an athlete.

I tried the whole mantra thing during my first swim ... and kept ending up with "I am the walrus ..." ... I should work on that.

Met Jayne Williams and have kept up correspondence with her. She's just the same in person as she comes across in the book. She's working on a new book on nutrition. Can't wait to read it!

This was the first book I read once I started contemplating triathlon. I'm definitely a "slow fat triathlete" and loved the stories. I believe reading that book helped me realize that "real" people can tri and have fun at it. I've also been keeping up with her races through the race reports on her website. I've now sucked my best friend [points up to 1 Foot The Other] and my sister into the madness. I can't wait to see the team jerseys!

*slides NCTriNewbie's copy under the couch cushion*

I'm sorry ... I have no idea what happened to that book. I'm sure it's around here somewhere.

*innocent look*

If you can read this book without laughing out loud at some point, I think there's something seriously wrong with you. Seriously, am I the only one that actually contemplated taking margaritas out on my first run just to be sure I was taking it slowly enough?!?!
