Subject: Wetsuit Options
I am new to triathlon but an getting ready for my first sprint. I am looking to two potential wetsuits and was wondering if people could provide any insight.

Option 1: Xterra Vector Pro Fullsuit Wetsuit
Option 2: 2012 Ironman Aquasphere Icon
Option 3: do you have an affordable suggestion for a beginner who will compete only two or three times a year.

Thanks for any advice.

Brad

I don't know about the Aquasphere suit but I picked up the Vector Pro last year using the BT discount code on the Xterra website. Xterra always seems to run the same special where you get their suits at 55% off using the discount code. Just click on the banner on the BT website.

I just bought a TYR category 1 Hurricane, and am happy with it.

planning on doing a sprint, HIM, and a 2.2 mile swim in it this year yet.  Plus several OWS practices.  I got it off of Amazon for about $240.

It's true to its sizing chart as well.

FWIW don't over look the DeSoto. They are a two piece. I'm tall and I get a better fit with them. Also when the water warms up I wear the bid john bottoms as a sleeveless. Almost like having two suits for the price of one.

ditto on the Vector Pro Full.  With the BT code, their suits are incredibly affordable, and I have found mine to fit and perform very well.  As long as I pay attention to how I put it on, the arms move great and I do not ever get suit rash on my neck.

I've been considering adding a sleeveless for those warmer wetsuit legal swims.

Two thoughts:

1. What's the water temp? Do you really need a wetsuit at all?

2. If yiou're not sure you're going to continue in triathlon, you might want to consider renting for your first race

I'm doing my first tri Saturday. It starts at 7 AM and the forecast is calling for a high of 82 (air temp). Do I need to rush out and get a wetsuit?

This is a 'first impressions' review of the Fit2Race Sockeye Fullsuit. From a first wetsuit point-of-view, I was able to dramatically improve my pace over non-wetsuit swims.

The Elite wetsuit was redesigned four times before going to the market in order to maximize its benefits. Does all this speed come at the expense of comfort? I had to find out.

Being lean isn't all wine and roses. The reduction in body fat has, unfortunately, also made me a slower swimmer. I have also become a real wimp in cold of any kind.
