For those of you following the whole Stages Power Meter reliabiliy and accuracy issues, DC Rainmaker has issued another review after what sounds like some signifcant changes in the firmware being used to capture the power data. It's a lot of reading, but good reading....

http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/06/stages-review-update.html

I'll have to read it again, but it appears to be a huge step forward for this device.

Yeah, this is pretty significant for me. I think this will be next year's big purchase.

Been waiting for this. Seems to have corrected a lot of issues seen during the first review. While I have everyone here.....

I have 2 bikes, a Cervelo S1 roadie with a MegaExo BB with full Ultegra and a Cannondale Slice with a BB30 and FSA cranks/Shimano 105. I really do not care about matching, so could I get a the Stages Ultegra and would it fit the Slice? I think the BB difference would be the limiting factor. Both are 175 mm.

Assuming you have a BB30 bottom bracket and not an adapter, then no, you couldn't just slide the 105 arm on one side. BUT, you can easily get a BB30 to GXP adapter and buy a 105 crank, then replace one arm.

I'm glad Stages has issued updates. That speaks well of Stages -- and also of our initial analysis/critique.

Why no SRAM red crank? Am I stuck downgrading both my crank arms to Rival if I want one of these?

Yep. I'd love a power meter that I can use across my Track, Tri, and Road bikes (road and cyclocross). I have a mix of metal and carbon crank arms and a mix of lengths, and a mix of bottom brackets, and mix of wheels... Where the heck are the Garmin Vectors (pedal based) when I need them?

I think at some point the Vector is just vaporware. If it was viable it would have been out a long time ago.

I'd heard that when Garmin first bought it that it was almost ready to go in a Speedplay version but someone in their infinite wisdom decided that it needed to go into the Look-style - oops!

I gave up hope on the Vector 3 years ago and I'm glad I did. I have been very happy with my Cycle-ops powermeter
