After getting sick before my last sprint triathlon I finally completed my first triathlon. The sprint was 500m swim an 8 mile bike and a 3.5 mile run. I'm excitement and honestly proud of my times they were, 12:39, t1 2:04, 22:48, t2 1:45, and run 30:26. It was a great feeling and an awesome learning experience for the next one. I'm hooked! A few surprises; wetsuits help a lot in buoyancy, sand is very annoying its almost best to do it without socks! A road bike helps a lot (a friend let me borrow his. I use a hybrid). The camaraderie is huge. Thanks for everyone's help in my precious posts.

Congratulations! I had my first Sprint tri in May and my first Olympic distance is in August. I am thinking it is going to whoop me, but it should be fun nonetheless. Get yourself signed up for the next one and keep the momentum going! HIM next year, here I come!!!

Grats!

a tip about the sand: tupperware (Or the cheap ziploc/glad version you buy at the supermarket.)
Really, just something big enough to quickly dip your foot into.

No more wiping the gunk off your feet. Just dip and go!

Terrific! Inspiring to me. My first sprint is in September. How long did you train? What plan did you use?

Congrats on your race! Completely agree on the comradaire aspect. We all know the feeling (sometimes need to be reminded though) of that first race, and knowing you are now hooked. Keep up the good work, and always remember to enjoy the journey!

You deserve to be proud of your times and the accomplishement.!!!

Depending on the size of your feet, a silicone bread pan may work for you. It's what I use. It's soft so it's easy to pack and it won't trip or hurt me or anyone if it gets stepped on or knocked over. I dunk one foot at a time, wipe with my towel, and shove my feet into my shoes.

I just keep an extra water bottle in transition and squirt the bottoms of my feet.  I don't know if one is any faster than the other, but just throwing it out as an option.
