Hi,

We are coming out from Michigan for the Rev3 1/2 at Old Orchard Beach this year. Does anyone have information about the swim, bike or run? I've checked out the Rev3 web site and read up those descriptions. But I was hoping there might be more information from others who did the race last year or know the area.

Thanks!
KL

I did the Oly last year and really enjoyed the course, I'll be doing the half this year.

The half is an early swim start, if I recall correctly about 6:30 AM. They need to do the early start since there is an Amtrack line between the beach and transition, they want to be sure everyone is out of the water and in T1 before the train comes through. Here is a quick youtube vid that someone did a few days ago regarding the swim.

I've ridden most of the bike course twice now and it's a nice ride, no major climbs and most of the roads are in pretty good condition. This is a video from a couple of years ago when they were planning the course, there have been a couple of minor changes since they filmed this but I skipped through it and it looks like it's mostly the same. Don't worry the snow should be melted in a couple of weeks.

The run starts with a slight upgrade out of downtown until it hits the Eastern trail(old RR bed converted to a multiuse trail), from there it's a crushed stone trail with a slight downgrade for a couple of miles, then relatively level until the turn around.

Hope you enjoy the race and Maine!

How familiar are you with the details of your stroke? Do you have ways, in the middle of a training set, perhaps while trying to keep up in a lane-circle, to keep your awareness acute?
