I'm not sure how I caught the bug in May.  Really, at the time I knew of no one that had done a tri and I hadn't swum (swam? swimmed?) since middle school or really biked since high school.  I am now fully feverish.  Last Saturday I finished my 2nd and "last" race of the summer.  Not knowing what to do with myself, I have signed up for a "short" course tri in a week-and-a-half.  What kind of disease is this?  Feeling good that I got up before the a$$-crack of dawn to swim, loving the sweat pouring off me after run workouts in the summer heat, liking the spandex look, lurking on BT at all hours, wishing I wasn't balding so I could shoot for the hairdo on LB's avatar...  Is there no cure?  Will it never end???  I hope not cuz it's kinda fun and there could be worse things I do with my time.

That was me during 2011 and 2012.  Then for some crazy reason I signed up for IMAZ 2013.  Now I have a tri this weekend and 11 weeks later I jump into Tempe Town Lake.

Not sure what is worse.  Being done in September or having to do all my late October / Early November workouts in the pool, on the Dread Mill, and on the God Forsaken Trainer...

I don't believe it's a disease.

I  believe we are all insane.

Also being from MN, we do have a few winter running events and a few indoor tris to feed your addiction over the winter training season.

Sincerely,

I'm in the same boat, never swam or biked really since grade school. Then I signed up and I love it. Like you said, I can't think of a better habit!

Ouch! Tough love!  I'd rather not have another knee surgery, but even if I did, I don't know that it would be an actual cure so much as a short remission. Tongue out

I've struggled with ITB and back problems for a year. It may have lowered the fever but its wasn't the cure.

Glad you are loving your new passion! And guess what - it gets even better during your second season!

I had knee surgery today......I don't expect it will cure anything when it comes to an active lifestyle.

Funny deal....I got asked today over and over about medications that I may take....at 53 I need none.  No BP meds, no cholesterol meds, no anything.  Apparently that makes me an exception.....like many of us.

Today was surgery #6 comprising neck and back for disc issues, knees, hernias.....all workout induced injuries over the past 30 years.  I wouldn't trade any of them for a lifestyle that included being medicated for anything.

I look forward to being back in the pool in 2 weeks, on the bike in 4 weeks, and running in 6.

I choose this over a life on the couch........it's not a sickness, it's living!

Glad to hear surgery went well.  Hope you heal up fast and can get back out there soon.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.
