I just got home to Ajo. Congrats everyone... PHXATC, awesome job, PR by 25 minutes, that's great. The volunteers were great. I tried to take the drinks from the kids on the run course and thanked them as I went by. I think that LifeTime is doing a good job after Redrock. I'm sore as heck.

Thought it was a good race and I will most likely do it again. Not a fan of some of the turns, especially the one on College, but there were by far more positives than negatives.

My day got off to a rough start. I was in the 6:34am wave and was swimming to the start line when the guy in front of me kicked my wrist. Looked down real quick and realized it knocked my 910xt extremely loose. I quickly grabbed it and tried to fasten before the swim started. Problem was, the kick completely knocked off the clasping bracket and I was extremely lucky the watch didn't sink to the bottom of the lake. Of course the announcer gave the 15-seconds till start message right after this happened... I slightly panicked but just stuffed it in my wetsuit right as the horn blew. Could have been worse!

I also saw a bad wreck just before the turnaround on McClintock. It looked like a lady veered to the left and took out a guy who was passing on the left. He looked to be in pain and was moaning and groaning. A volunteer was right there and immediately started helping out so I'm sure they got medical attention quick.

I saw that crash as well. Didn't see it happen but passed there shortly after it had happened, by the looks of things. There was a motorcycle cop there and several volunteers helping the 2 riders. Those U turns totally suck. They are horrible especially with the mix of riders skill, speed, and experience level.

I agree though...the positives outweigh the negatives though.

I was on the water, and it was a really good day! I didn't see anyone hanging on the floating platforms, I know of only one person that DNF'd the swim (Having back spasms in the inbound leg), and everyone made the swim cutoff!

Congrats to all that competed, and a 25 min PR is freaking HUGE! Congratulations!

John

My daughter and I had a great time watching the race. It was very motivating for our race this weekend. I'm going to see about building up for SOMA next year. Congrats to all the racers

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.
