Comments:

The weather was beautiful for a paddle around the lake.
What would you do differently?:

Wear my gloves. I forgot them, and ended up with blisters on both hands, between my thumb and first finger. D'oh!

My real T2 - kayak to run, I was looking for water at the start of the run. No such luck. A volunteer ran up to the other end of the Transition area to the finish and got me a bottle which was nice.

Thank the people who were still at the inflated finish line, waiting for me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Shut up already.

Event comments:

I don't know if I will return to the Chilli until I am sure of my ability to summit the bike course without walking.

Andy, Congrats! This looks like a really fun - and challenging race. It's a bit far but will put it on the list of "possibles" for next year. I'm digging trail running these days and game for anything that takes my abysmal swim times out of the equation.

Well, it is a definite A race for great cyclists. The trail run portion is very easy compared to the other trail runs I've done around here. Nothing technical at all on this course. And the kayaking beats a bad swim! The race organization arranges for kayak rentals if you need one.

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.
