Silverback/KS 5150/ RR the RD posted a teaser on FB tonight asking if anyone wants to go long this year. September 14, 2014. Hoping it is somewhere in the area. 70.3, I would be in. 140.6, I could be convinced.

I wouldn't mind that, or the fact it would have to be a two loop swim. The four loop run would get old, and it being the third event in three months on the same exact course would get really old. Although, i do like my campsite out there.

I'm super interested if it's a 70.3 but would love a 140.6. They need to announce soon though. People need time to plan for something like that.

It sure would make training alot more fun if there was a big group of locals all training for the same 140.6. It would be a busy fun summer.

I have no intention of doing a 140.6 next year. But if it was local, how could you not be in?!

Is it possible to do a 70.3 or 140.6 on the Lawrence Tri course (which I understand is different than the 5150/70.3 course)?

I would consider 70.3 (planning to do my first ever in April) but not interested in 140.6. With 4 little kids I can't committ to the training volume needed....

Someday...

Maybe its a 26.2 run vs. a 140.6 TRI?

This was done previously. During the first year of the KS 70.3 race (2008, I think) it was on the south side of the lake, but it was moved to its current location the next year. Possibly for logistical reasons. Maybe Lisa or someone who did that race can chime in on that (surely the storm didn't have that great of an impact ).

I like the idea of a Sept 70.3 race (I'm years away from being able to properly train for a 140.6). Another race out at Clinton, while a great venue, doesn't get me as excited. But where else would you have it? I dunno. Hillsdale and Tuttle Creek I think would be able to handle it, at least with the camping available.

If it's a full I'm in! Savageman might have to wait another year if it's a full.

The 1st IMKS was on the south side due to site conflicts on the north side. I personally liked the south side better. Closer parking and one transition area.

Now Lawrence triathlon is saying it will announce changes to its race tonight at midnight. Perhaps they are tuning the lawrence triathlon into a race with a long course option? This would make sense due to the 5150 date change. It would spread three clinton park aces out a little bit, and would transition out of a different area to switch it up from the other two.

If that were to happen, they would have to make the run like 15.2 or 29.8 miles (half or long course) to keep with the Tinman tradition.

While I'm likely in either way as that weekend is free of races right now, a 140.6 would be amazing. I could care less how many loops it is, though a single loop bike/run would be too cool for school. Been trying to find my next full to sign up for after IMAZ this year, and all the appealing ones are sold out already....

While I am super disappointed....I mean, how cool would another local half, or even better, a full have been???

At the same time, another local race, even if just Oly distance, is always a good thing.

Maybe we can get a grassroots full distance together...no awards, self supported crazy long and just for the fun of it day....and a lot of beer at the end!

EXAAAACTLY.... But yeah, another race (at Clinton...), and I did enjoy the South side of the lake last year. I'll consider it, but would like to end the season on a 70.3 or Hyvee...

Most of those thinking about tackling a long swim instinctively feel it’s necessary to Do much to build endurance - more yards, harder laps. But a focus on Receiving is ideal for long distances.
