Subject: Timex Cycle Trainer GPS vs Garmin Edge 500?
Setting up a new bike, looking for a solid on board comp. I'm not riding with power, so the timex's poor power tracking won't matter to me.

Any opinions on one over the other?

I'm looking too.
Despite my engineering degree, I find it difficult to sort through manufacturer websites to determine what features a product has, and what accessories I must buy. GPS is a great concept in theory to measure bike and running speed, but it is succeptible to errors when going under bridges or trees. To get the data download feature, it looks like some manufacturers require you to send your training data to THEIR website. I don't like that one bit. I wish manufacturers would offer a self contained, end-to-end product.
