I posted this on FB as well, but looking at your thoughts. I need to talk to Shane as well.

Power question for those into such things...
I am using a PT G3 on a DT Swiss hub. Tried using a disc cover this weekend but not a fan (although liked it on my 404) and also don't like the Channing of race tires and tubes etc every time I race.
Looking at 2 options:
1. Buy a better race wheel like an 808 with PT built in.
2. Race without power.
Open to suggestions or other options?

Trend here seems to be Stages and then free up your wheel options. I know you had a crank based powermeter at one point but not sure what happened. I also know some people can't get over the left leg reading on the Stages but have heard nothing but good things. I don't think one of my legs is freakishly strong so it'd be good enough for pacing and training etc for me...also only weighs about 20 grams.

I used to have a powertap wheel that I just beat the hell out of. Next time I'm getting the Stages or other crank based powermeter and then I don't have to worry about my wheel options.

Looks like your not opposed to spending a little money so you could probably get a good price on selling your current powertap wheel, get the stages and then whatever wheels you want (even rent for big races if you don't want to buy really nice wheels but have a good everyday wheel). Just my thinking.

Good luck! Be smart. I'd hate to see all your hard work be jeopardized by making it worse.

I learned in this race that in order to finish the swim, you have to know where you are going. And in order to know where you are going, you have to learn to sight.

Stroke after stroke, my pace was pulling me out into the middle of the lake quickly. The cover seemed to be getting thicker. But still in the distance, the little boathouse was my lighthouse.

The swim is ALWAYS a cause for concern when it comes to competing in a triathlon. This is the event for which you need to concentrate on RELAXING.
