That's crazy.
I've been known to bring gummy bears on hikes.
Never had the reaction to them.

New ingredients???

Yikes! There's a European (Swiss?) brand of gummy-bear like candy that I used to take for hiking and climbing that's sweetened only with fruit juice. Never had any problems with it and have thought about using it on the bike for races as it goes down a whole lot better than Gu chews and the like. I think Trader Joe's or someone has a similar product in the US. Definitely not going with sugar-free Haribo. (Exactly what would the point be anyway, if there's no sugar? Is one supposed to get the calories from the gelatin?)
