I think I'm going to try out Trainer Road. The program sounds like a great plan, but I'm curious if any of you have used this for IM training, at least for winter/off season?

From what I read it sounds like you do a power test and then it sets up work outs for you after this, but I'm curious if the program asks you what you are training for because I'm sure the training would differ for IM vs sprint.

Can anyone give me more details and did you like it? I think I need more structure in my training as I don't follow a plan.

They have hundreds of workouts you can choose from but they also have pre-made training plans. For example they have base building plans, sweet-spot plans, and Half Iron plans. they do not have a full iron plan however.

I'm using the half iron plan right now for my 70.3 in April and I like it. I don't do the long rides on the trainer on the weekends, i go outside, but the weekly rides are good.

you could play with it and make it work for a full.

Totally worth the $10/month investment.

In the winter/off-season, probably not very much.  If at all.

I'm excited to try it out for only 10 bucks. Sounds like a steal!

I use TR 3x a week and LOVE it. You can create your own workouts if you like, do free rides where there is no workout you can just see your information on the screen to help keep you in zones, and you can drop in videos such as Sufferfest or even spinnervals I believe, and the workout times with the video so you can just start peddling and go!

Definitely worth the investment and you can start and stop your subscription as needed.
