Has any one done one of these? It is a site where you bet that you will lose a % of weight by a deadline. I just did one for 29 days and had to lose 4%.

There is a new one starting tomorrow and it has over $90,000 in the pot. This one is 6 months long so a much longer commitment, I think I am going to try it out.

I have done it before but the one I did well on I moved 2 weeks before the end, and the other one I got mono during it so I really did not get anywhere.

How exactly does it work and who is checking the scales?  It would be too easy to cheat the system, just to win the money.

you have to take a picture of you on the scale and a picture of your weight. You get emailed a code word when you are to weigh in. I agree that there could be some cheating, but if they feel that there is a questionable weigh in they make you why in live via skype.

You put in a set amount of money, the one I am doing is $25 per month for 6 months. A total of $150 and you have to lose 10% of your body weight over that time period. There are more detailed restrictions, like goals for each month on their site. You also cannot lose more than a certain % either.

I reached the goal for the 29 day one this morning so will know how much I made of that soon. (the pot was only $250 though)

I am doing my second one now. I did one that started in January and it was easier because most of the weight I gained over the holiday was superficial.  My first weigh in was spectacularly bad - the only time in my life I was happy to see a highish weight   I squeaked in at the end, and I had already signed up for another.  It's a huge pot.  I really don't think I am going to make it this time, I have 15 days to lose more than 5 lbs.  Oops.  I need to make more changes to my diet to make it, and apparently I am not willing.  However, I have felt pretty motivated and I am glad to have something positive to work towards.  I have been working out a lot more, and I put on muscle pretty easily.  So, if I am not gaining weight I am definitely losing fat.

OK I ended up signing up for another 4% one. It starts tomorrow and is only $35. I could not commit to the $150 one at this time. Let me know if anyone is doing it too. I am doing the TAJ's winter blast one

Good luck!  I blew my bet this month, so I am going to take a little break for a while from the betting.

I'm doing a spring one, just started last week.  This is my first time using DietBet, so I'm not sure what to expect but I hope it helps inspire me to stay on track and lose some weight.  For some reason it gets harder and harder to do.

In this day and age of energy bars, protein powders and weight gain shakes, many athletes forget about “real" foods such as peanut butter. Peanut butter is perhaps the best sport food around.
