Subject: Orbea Ordu (2013) or Trek Speed Concept (2013)
Hello,

So..I am torn between the Orbea Ordu and the Trek Speed Concept. I have been fitted and have tried out both bikes. They both feel great and I know that I will be happy with either bike. The price point is about the same (this is taken into consideration the fact that I am looking at two 2013 models).

I have read the reviews and the pros and cons of each bike. I am doing a few Olympic distances, a half Ironman and ultimately an Ironman in the late summer. I know that the Trek has more versatility in respect to "carrying" food and fluid.

This is a big purchase, so I just wanted to reach out to my fellow triathletes for any thoughts or advice.

Thank you!!!!!!

Allison

~fit yada yada~

The Trek. Proven serious business top end race machine. The Ordu is nice, but it isn't in the same league as the SC.

they're both mighty fine steeds.

Buy the one that you are most emotionally invigorated by.  The one that you'll go out into the garage every night just to wipe the dust off of and stare at.

Any other differences will pale in comparison to the emotional bond you'll create with your bike.  Buy the one you fall in love with.

Chris, normally I agree with you, but I'm not on this one. The new Ordu is a serious machine, on par with the SC. Now, the 2014 SC had some improvements to it and I would agree that could be an even better bike, edging out the Ordu. But '13 vs '13… I would probably pick the Ordu (although I wouldn't pick either… not fit me well)

I dunno... all the tunnel shootouts I have seen list the NEW Ordu as the bottom of the Superbike barrel. That isn't to say I'm not missing something, I admit I've slacked off in my constant vigilance of every tunnel test ever lately. Inside Triathlete puts it at ~200g slower than an SC.

Of course when you're talking about superbikes that's still plenty fast... but I still stand by my original statement that in the world of superbikes the Ordu < Speed Concept.

This is some sound advice. (Scientific too.)

which, for me would easily be the Orbea.  It's a uniquely cool looking bike, when so many others look the same.  But- that's subjective of course.
