Ba ha ha, my mom has totally asked me if the race I was doing that weekend was "only" a marathon or a triathlon.

  • Your wife wears a t-shirt that says "Triathlete Widow"

And my husband has one that says "I don't do triathlons, I do a triathlete." I have been trying to find him one that says "My wife is into threesomes" with symbols for swim, bike and run.

Weddings get planned around races. I do mean my own five wedding parties and every single one is planned around a race! Four of them are triathlon-themed. The fifth, we're having the ceremony on top of a swimming pool. Likelihood of ending up in it: high.

A workout outfit matches if most of the parts are clean ... ish.

When traveling, you open your suitcase and realize you have enough tri gear to last a week ... but no underclothing except for sports bras and the only "normal" clothes, you wore to travel in. (Happens to me every. single. time.)

Maybe you should just skip the preliminaries and get married IN the swimming pool. They have swim-up bars and restaurants, why not a swim-up wedding? Congrats, by the way!

Can't contribute anything that good. My only ones a travel related: when you choose hotels based on either size of pool and/or proximity to a good running route or open water swim venue. When you think it is normal to take a bike, wetsuit, and running shoes on a road trip.

Wearing dress shoes with the socks you just finished your morning workout in because you forgot to pack your dress socks the night prior... That's me right now. Nike no shows with dress shoes, at least they match so I have that going for me.

You see someone with a number written on their calf, and start sizing them up, wondering if you could have beaten them since they are in your AG.

HAHAHHAHAH  This is soooooo me.

Last year I had to laugh at myself.  A guy new to triathlons asked me if I "won" the last race.  I went through the whole explanation about Age Groups, Overall winners, pros vs weekend warriors, basically trying to justify why there is not a winner.  Then  I got on the podium in my next race and had to explain to the same guy why all of that previous stuff I said was bullsh!t because I actually "won".  (well, got 2nd OA and won my age group....  )

The calf number reminds me that I keep (last night at the pool, actually) telling people that I'm 37 and really I'm only 36, but 37 is my RACE AGE! Oh well.

You actually know what all the acronyms, abbreviations and strange terms mean in all of the posts on BT. When I first started racing I had to constantly look up stuff.

Like "I don't know why that guy keeps calling me Fred. I finally didn't DNF but it was probably a W.PR and not a PB. Some C/A kicked my butt and I said WTF cause he was an POB AG and I was an FOP Crit racer. Yea. The race was ITA red dot not one of those off brands. Fortunately my diet was constant 40/30/30 so I didn't bonk.

My vocabulary increase after reading this nice collection.

Yes! I'm not the only one who does that!

Just the other day I had to ask my husband how old I was because I kept confusing my race age with my actual age.

You are sitting in your afternoon meetings with recovery compression pants and calf sleeves under your work clothes because you ran 8.5 miles during lunch.

1. You consider your 70.3 Ironman finisher shirt your "dress shirt".
2. Your wife gets mad because you were checking out a girl on a bike but you were actually looking at the bike.
3. You have a race shirt for every day of the week, month, ...
4. Even the deer look at you crazy during your run at 4:00 AM.
5. Your bike is parked in the house.

I was out to eat with a friend once, and when my drink came in a paper cup, without even thinking about it I squeezed the top together and drank out of the little opening until my friend gave me a strange look and I realized what I was doing. I had to tell her "Uhh...can you tell I'm a triathlete..."

Does this count for Duathletes?

When you're more worried about your bike/run workout than getting your permit.

When you do a 70.3 and forget sunscreen... and your race age is burned into your calf for a month. Yeah. D'oh! (Love these)

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.
