I guess that means I'd have to go when Typhoon Lagoon is actually open.  I think the last time I was at Disney some (mumble mumble) 15 years ago they weren't open in March when I was there.  Too cold. It might not be 'real' surfing but I'd give it a go if the situation presented itself.

Salty, your own versions of SUP surfing sound very fun, and I like how your bro is staying hydrated and safe (helmet)!  Yeah, the closest I ever came to surfing is snowboarding, wakeboarding and SUP (on a dead flat lake).  Ah, someday...

Man I got so far behind -sorry I have been AWOL.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THOSE THAT I MISSED.

GREAT RACING ON THE WEEKEND EVERYONE

HAPPY WEDDING DAY YANTI -we want pictures.

Things are going ok here. The puppies are growing madly and eating like horses, they are 6 weeks old tomorrow so only 4 weeks to go. DH and I are still discussing which of them we are keeping, I think I am swaying him.

There hasn't been much improvement on the health front for him, but he went back to the Dr yesterday and they have altered and made additions to his medications to try and relive some of his stiffness and jump start the improvement in his gut function. More stricter changes to our diet, basically we are going Paleo with some further restrictions based on the GI rating of foods. So I will be spending my long weekend researching exactly what we can eat and how I can cook for us.

I hurt my back on Sunday and by Tuesday could hardly walk, my magical Bowen lady has fixed a fair bit of it. But no training for me for at least a week or so and then I will have to start with walking. Not really worried about it as I haven't been doing anything anyway (which is probably why I hurt myself in the first place) it's just been really hard to fit it in with the puppies and the amount of cleaning that they generate.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Easter break and that you get some time to spend with your family and friends. STAY SAFE AND WELL.

Glad to hear the pups are doing well, Stacey.  More pictures please, especially of the one(s?) you're thinking of keeping.

That's a bummer that (a) your DH isn't feeling better, (b) his (and therefore your) diet is getting even more restrictive, and (c) you hurt your back.  It must be awfully frustrating for both of you that he's not improving.  Then to hurt your back on top of everything else.  Yeesh.  You've got a lot on your plate!

Take care of yourself this weekend.  Even though they're lots of work, at least you have a pack of toddler puppies to make you smile (when you're not grimacing from either the mess or the sharp puppy teeth).  ((hugs))

See, this ( and the fact he's male )is why I could never let my dog have a litter of puppies- I'd keep them all!

sorry your husband is still not well - I hope the new modifications and additions made by the dr help!< I'm not sure what a magical Bowen lady is, but I'm glad she was able to help your back!!

I am being told that I should be home by mid-Sept which will give me about 4-6 weeks in the pool/OWS, time on my actual bike and time for some hill training. Besides...DO IT!!!!

Do you have a wetsuit?  Are you experienced using it?  In other words, this won't be your first race using it, will it?

How are you with wind on the bike?

I talked to a friend who is familiar with the tides in the Wilmington area.  This is what he said about the 2014 edition of B2B: "Dead high at the pier will be 8:39 AM. Maybe a bit of lag back in the channel. Full will have a weakening push. Early waves of the half may have a little bit of push left but later waves will be pretty slack."

In other words, you won't get help from the tide.

Yeah, the salt water was a bit of a shock to me, and I ingested more than my fair share of the water, but that being said - I still made it through mostly unscathed.  I don't think the water was warm enough to have it non-wetsuit legal, so you might want to get a bit more practice in with that before the race too... for us the water temp was WAY warmer than the air temp - so if nothing else it was really nice to have the wetsuit on while waiting for the swim to start!

Lol - definitely try to break the mashing habit - your legs will thank you on the run.

Wooot!  Definitely come out and volunteer - not only would it be really cool to meet another Manatee, but volunteering at the races is so much fun.  I'll be volunteering (again) at IMMoo this year.

What did you feel was the difference for swimming in salt water vs. fresh water? Is it the taste of the water and how ingesting it makes you feel afterward?

Buoyancy, taste, chafing.

Happy Friday, Manatees!

Monica, I have a Friday-type question for you.  Is there really a Viagra Triangle in Chicago?  I'm reading a book by a Chicago author and she has described such a thing.  I could have googled it but I thought to myself, Friday fodder for the Manatees!

ETA: Upon googling it, I find that there is such a place.  Unsure what to think about that...

Does it mean that if you're there for more than four hours, you should go to the nearest emergency room?  Or that you're at increased risk of vision loss if you go there too often?

Yes, yes there is.  And it frightens me.  However, I do know a woman who met her now husband on the street in that area...

Uh oh!  Does that make her a trophy wife?

FWIW, I'm reading Twisted Sisters by Jen Lancaster. This is the first fiction that I've read by her.  I've enjoyed her autobiographical work, including Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry A Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office quite a bit.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
