I started running at the age of 44, 20 months ago. I've lost around 25 pounds and have been holding steady on my weight for over 6 months now.

Lately, I've been preparing for my first ever half-marathon that is coming up next Sunday. I still can't believe I'm actually doing a half marathon!!! GAAA!!! But, I've been sticking to my training plan, and I ran 11 miles Wednesday, so I think I'll be ok. Last Saturday was my first Sprint tri of the season, and I was 7:00 faster then the same event last year. Nice.

I've been doing all of my running in or maybe just above Zone 2, and many here on BT have said that my 5k time would likely be better this season. Well, they were right! This morning I had my first race of the season, and I finished in a new PR of 25:29, which is 1:07 faster than last year's PR!!!

Whoo-hoo!

CONGRATS.

Same here ... , training in Z2 mostly, and HM coming up in two weeks: wish you lotsa luck, enjoy the event, remember the first time there is no performance pressure ....

All the best, and nice going!

Good work! Keep it up, and good luck with the upcoming HM.

Running lots, being light, and not being injured go a heck of a long way in running.

Thanks!

I'm hardly "light" yet, but I'm lighter than I was! :-) Heck, at 6'0 and 195#, I still have a ways to go just to get to "not overweight". At this point I'd settle for "not squishy in the middle".

Best of luck to you, too!

Maybe not much performance pressure, but that is easily replaced by anxiety!!!

I told my uncle (his 1st HM, too) who is doing the HM with me that we are both guaranteed to PR, no matter what!

Awesome! I guess I need to look into the HRZone training. Swimming is starting to click, the bike is a matter of the engine being fat and flabby and the run is....ugh. My PR two summers ago for the 5k was a little over 26 min, I'd sure like to get back there!
