I am just getting back into endurance sports after a four year hiatus from living in Africa (Tanzania and Uganda). I have done a lot of sprint/oly distance tris but never a Half IM or IM. Sold all my bikes before I left for Africa and currently just have a commuter set of wheels.

I am an avid competitive ultra runner and am currently fully booked for ultramarathons this year. My current plan is to transition after my last ultra this year in October to building a new tri-base and am looking to compete at Ironman 70.3 Berlin and Ironman Barcelona next year. I have not swum in about a year but am starting to do so again now.

I currently train at 10-12 hours per week but almost all running with some strength training and yoga thrown in for good measure.

Welcome to the site!  I was going to recommend swimming 2x per week just to slowly get back into it, but I read that you are already doing this.  Sounds like your transition will be easy.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Immediately I felt attracted by the challenge. I have done plenty of biking this summer and a new motivation, particularly toward the end of the summer, was what I needed.

Mental toughness is skill. You need to learn how to suffer. You practice perseverance everyday when you are out training in the bad weather, when you ride or run further than you have ever gone.

My dog is an intelligent runner. She does a big stretch before she does anything. She starts out slowly and gradually builds up speed until we are running very fast.
