After a month of traveling, I'm back in one place and finally selected another race - The Tiger Lily on Gun Lake over on the West side of Michigan - August 30th. It should be fun to race a Sprint (after doing my first ever in June as on Olympic).

This past week I've hit one of the disciplines each day and its amazing how a few weeks off can throw a monkey wrench into endurance. (physical or mental I guess). For me, I always need a race to keep me motivated - so looking forward to this next one! after that... perhaps a good October half marathon? those are always fun.

Today was a family day and another nice day off (I hope my family does not get too used to all of these day offs :-)

Tomorrow at 10am Central Germany time (6 hrs from now) the registration for the epic Challenge Roth opens up and fills up in a few minutes.  I'm debating if I will be up at 2 AM Guatemala time to try to make it, we will see...

Challenge Roth is an epic race! I say 1 bad nights sleep is a small consequence for everlasting GLORY! And it would just be cool to do it.

Busy weekend at the Trisuppo ranch. Ripped out a kitchen backsplash, reinstalled drywall, re-tiled. Did other manual labor and then prepped for daughter's 16th B-day party (her birthday's not until November but due to lousy weather in Michigan in the November she likes to actually celebrate her B-day in the summer). So, long story short - no workout yesterday. I was and still am so sore I don't think I could have. Going to try to get a swim in at lunch today and maybe run with my daughter this evening.

[edit]

Got to the pool for a good ol' swunch. Really felt fatigued from the weekend of work around the house so I settled on 50M repeats after my WU and drills. Had a good run at the 50's and pretty sure it was my first 50's at less than 50 secs per. Not a huge acheivement for the fishies of the world, but made me smile. Starting to feel my body position in the water more, kick feeling a bit more coordinated, still need to be more consistent with my pull.

Trisuppo-glad to see I wasn't the only one on domestic duty this weekend. We have an exchange student coming from Japan on Friday, plus our septic system had a total failure and was replaced last week, trashing our entire yard. I spent Thursday and Friday nights and most of Saturday shoveling manure and grass seed. The rest of Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. cleaning things in our house I didn't even know existed, plus all of those little honey-do's I have been ignoring have to be done this week.

I feel for you Jim! We have my bro-in-law and his family coming to stay with us next week. At the end of the visit we are throwing a party for my father-in-law's 70th birthday party (BBQ for 40 people). I then follow that up with camping trip with my two oldest daughters. Plus I'm swamped at work. It's going to get interesting fitting in my workouts.

Happy Day today, I was able to secure a slot at 2am for the 2015 Challenge Roth Iron distance tri!!!  Just read that it sold out in one minute and 10 seconds :-)

Also received my new Garmin 910xt last night as a replacement for my stolen one and got to try it out today for a 9 mile morning run (with little sleep due to my successful registration last night)

What data fields for the swim do you guys show on your Garmin 910XT?

I have to do this leave on a certain interval and it would be so much easier if I knew how to program the Garmin for that.

Jackie- This is what I have just put on my swim mode for data fields. Until this past weekend when I got out the owners manual to figure out how to turn on the Triathlon mode I didn't even realize I could change the fields. I mean why would I bother to read the instructions that came with the watch, I could seriously risk losing my Man Card if I did that. Also here is the link for the online owners manual I ended using.

Made me laugh Mitch, thanks! Btw, I'm happy with a small house, recently had to renovate the kitchen too and spent about $1k just on a splashback... (yes, here it is called splashback). I'm glad I don't have a ranch. Hope your renovation is going good

Gabe - congratulations on another big adventure!

"Ranch" was just a figure of speech. Defnitely not a ranch. I am firmly entrenched in Metro Detroit Suburbia. Renovations are never done, I'm afraid...Love the term splashback...I think I'll co-opt it and bring some new culture the U.S.
