Really scary situation. I was shaking just watching the video.

http://youtu.be/ECs8ZrmH8D8

But the video (and the robber's ignorance of not knowing what a GoPro is) proves to be the robber's demise as they are all caught, arrested, and the owner got his bike & phone back when he handed the video over to police.

Luckily for the Police, NOTHING is obvious to morons.

Videos like this must remain off of the "My wife must watch this video list".

Jesus f-ing Christ.  How scary is that?

Just tell the wife that you ride a lot faster than this guy, and you never go on the wrong side of the tracks. Nothing good ever happens on the wrong side of the tracks!

Couldn't he have just sprayed a water bottle full of cayenne pepper, yelled really loud, and stuck his finger up the guy's butt?

Oh wait, that was the dog thread...

Don't know what's more disturbing, the video or the comments posted below it.

I do know that no bike is worth getting shot for.

The way that guy handled the gun shows how novice he is with it and really had no intention to use it (if it was even loaded, which in many cases it isn't) NOT SAYING the victim did anything wrong or should have done something different, just shows how stupid in addition to not taking the GoPro those guys were.

Yeah, I am not showing my husband that video, either. He is already convinced that I will die on my bike.

I gotta tell you brother.....we don't deal with many unloaded guns.  And the only thing you really need to know about that scenario of poor gun handling is that poor gun handling trumps perfect gun handling if the perfect gun handler doesn't have a gun.

Just give the dumbarses your crap........and then get more new crap.

I laughed at the comment that tried to say that it was an attempt to make African Americans look bad. Obviously failing to realize that the video was from Africa so those were Africans. You got to like an attempt to paint someone as racist by being ethnocetic.

I gotta tell you brother that I am not saying guns are not always unloaded, but I have many friends in police enforcement and have done my time in public safety as well (FF/Paramedic), unloaded guns are more common then most think. That gun could have been loaded, and of course you always assume it is, just throwing out some thoughts.

EDIT: Friend was held at gunpoint 3 years ago in Milwaukee, turned out gun was unloaded. That could be a once in a million scenario but it shows it happens.

Dude - just talking about a gun not being loaded is dumb....I don't even want to be a part of the discussion....I'm out.     If they're pointed at you, they're loaded.   Believe it.

Rule one of every firing range and self defense course: Assume the gun is loaded. Bad gun handling just means they are more likely to fire then not.

I paused the video and clearly saw his finger was on the trigger the entire time. #1 firearm rule, treat all guns as if they're loaded. #2 rule, never point your weapon at anything your not willing to destroy. With those two rules violated, i don't know how people could assume the gun was not loaded... If you want to die for your bike, go for it, I won't!

He's a very lucky man but he deal with it brilliantly.  Just the appropriate amount of deference, co-operation and maintaining of space.  Did nothing to panic the robber, stayed calm and walked away with his life.  Superb

What a horrendous invention guns were.

Assistant Police Chief here in one of the 4 largest agencies in the nation. EVERY GUN IS LOADED, especially if some half wit, doped up crook stealing your stuff is holding the gun.

Not to mention crook had is finger on the trigger which usually leads to an accidental discharge. ADs kill.

Well I said that I was not going to do it this season, but I cracked. I broke down and bought a new bike. I went out and bought a shiny new Cannondale road bike.
