JAX area, Florida
Subject: Moving to Jacksonville
Hello! Excited about this move as it means I'll be able to run and bike all year. Are there good trails to run? Is cycling well received? Just looking for some feedback as to what can be expected. We are looking at areas west of Jacksonville or Orange Park.

Thanks!

Congrats. I was stationed at Mayport (the beaches area of Jax) when I was in the Navy. There was great running and biking at the beaches. Unfortunately, I can't help you with the Western part of the City. That was like a completely different city. Ran a few races over there, but otherwise, never trained there. I am now at the other extreme of FL (Key West). Enjoy!

'Lots of great cycling opportunities all around the city.

www.NFBC.org North Florida Bicycle Club has 4-5 rides per week all over town.

www.BFASTracing.org this group puts on several local Tri's during the summer.

Both have Facebook pages as well.

What part of the city are you going to be living in ?

OK, missed the Orange Park part.

You will have good running and riding opportunities in that area.

Are you Navy ?

I'm also a NFBC member.  Lots of rides through them.  Florida Striders is a local running club that has some group runs.  Depending on where in Orange Park you are going, there are some busy roads (Blanding is the worst) but there are also some beautiful riding spots not too far away.

Welcome to Jax.
