Hi Everyone,

I will spent two weeks this summer at my sister house in a northern suburb of Chicago. As I cannot really miss 2 weeks of Bike Training I was considering taking my bike with me but it would cost me almost the same as my own ticket and I dont even get a seat for it

So I am wondering if it is possible to rent a road bike or even a Tri Bike while I am there. I am even towing with the idea of one sprint race...

Does anyone know of a place who rent bikes in the Chicago area?

Thanks

There are plenty of places, here is one: http://www.bobbysbikehike.com/Rentals.aspx?gclid=CJvUpae3l78CFcvm7A...

At $65 a day, it'd be cheaper to bring your own. Or rent Divvys, it's like riding uphill the whole time.

Thanks but that looks to be downtown (I will be in Wheeling) so I assume it is very expensive there.

Do normal bike shops in the suburbs usually rent out bikes or rather not?

I am sure you can find a weekly road bike rental in such a large metropolitan area.  I would really recommend that you:

1.  Post this in the Illinois state forum

2.  Just start e-mailing bike shops in the area and ask for a special 2-week rate.

Good luck!

You should see if a BTer has an extra bike or knows someone that does. Maybe ask Whizzzzz if she knows of a shop or someone that might have your size bike to borrow/rent.

Also there is a website that connects bike owners with potential renters in major US cities that would likely work much better than a bike shop.

Found it...

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?
