Comments:

Olympic, aqua-Bike, handicapped and team start together, followed by sprint and sprint team. Orange swim caps and a first turn orange (small) bouy made sighting difficult. Water was cool for me it was boarderline to warm for a wetsuit.
What would you do differently?:

larger turn bouys that aren't colored the same as swim caps.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Tight area.
What would you do differently?:

More room needed for transition, bikes seemed quite crouded on racks.

No aid stations. Course marking sub-optimal.
Transition 2

Comments:

Absolute lack of signage. I had zero idea where the runout was, a bistander had to point it out to me.

Two aid stations, limited signage for sprint turnaround.

Event comments:

I was pretty excited about this race, comeing a month after my first half ironman... I did not get to train much during the month, and my fittness level showed this. I underestimated the hills, and was disapointed by a few things, I don't think I'll be back for this one.

We all have our reasons for what we do and why we train. I liken my fight against heart disease to Gandalf, and his memorable “You shall not pass” scene.
