Hi there Californina BT'ers!

My sister and I are going to visiting the LA area in a few weeks, and I'm in the thick of marathon training.

Does anyone know of anywhere that's good to run near the hotel I'm staying at?

It's the SpringHill Suites LAX/Manhattan Beach - off of Aviation Blvd.

I need to do a 7 mile run and a 5 mile run while I'm out there.

tons and tons.   Want flat?  Head towards the water, either run straight down Marine or Rosecrans to the beach path, head north or south (or drive down to make the run more scenic on the beach).  Heading south is more scenic.

If you want trails and/or hills, take Aviation to PCH south to Palos Verdes, Park at corner of PV Drvie West and Paseo Del Mar and pick up the bluff trail and keep following it south as far as you want.

Chris has very good suggestions. The Strand is great but on weekends I would try to hit it early as it tends to get very crowed during the summer. I would also add that from Manhattan Beach to Hermosa Beach there is a 3.5 mile green belt paved with wood chips. Less congested and a nice change of pace. Starts right near intersection of Roscrans and PCH. Lastly, if you need a track workout, there is one just a couple blocks south of your hotel on Aviation. Enjoy
