Anyone here know of any discounts for the MW Meltdown Tri? I just went to the registration site (http://midwestmeltdowntriathlon.com/registration.cfm), and had massive sticker shock...$135 for a glorified sprint tri!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't planning on doing it this year, but with two of my "tune up" tris getting canceled, I need at least something before I go attempt to defend my Clydesdale podium spot at the Hy-Vee 5150.

P.S. Reece, you fell again at Clinton Lake...man, you are cursed at that location!

Use code SMTri when you check out and you will get 15% off. I think you also get a gift card to Elite. The details are on the Midwest Meltdown Facebook page. For some reason I'm having trouble copying and pasting it from my phone so you may want to visit it.

Besides SMP, what other race was canceled?

I'm with you on the price. Too overpriced for a small race with not a lot of bells and whistles.

As much as I wanted to do this race again this year I opted for the Cowboy Up! race at Smithville Lake the week before (Aug 3, which if you haven't done this race it is great. Nothing spectacular about the course but the volunteers and organization go above and beyond, plus its a great cause.)

The price has gotten quite steep as the race nears. I'm lucky to have gotten in on it early and it doesn't hurt that my employer pays reimbursements on entry fees as part of our health insurance plan.

The only other race around here that got rained out that I know of was the K.C. Corporate Challenge Tri which is the same exact course as the SM Short Course.

$135 is ridiculous for that race. 4 loops on the bike and the same loop for the run...? Uh no thanks.
