Expert 2355 Madison, Wisconsin | Subject: IM Lou moving to October Looks like IM Lou will be moving to October next year 10/11/2015 (Day after Kona). Curious to see how this works since it is so dark already at 645 am for the swim start. However, this will allow the race to be wetsuit legal, and obviously much cooler. Might be what they need to have this race pick up in interest and sell a bit more quickly. |

17 | Subject: RE: IM Lou moving to October The darkness in the AM will be frustrating... Will the time change benefit that? I'm from IN, less than 2 hrs from Lou, and we turn our clocks back in the fall giving us a few extra bonus weeks of lighter mornings. Not sure when the time change date falls in relation to the IM though. That being said, a date move was necessary, IMO. From 3 people I know who have raced it, the heat in August is brutal. This definitely puts it in the running for a first timer IM for myself in a year or two! |

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: IM Lou moving to October Call me crazy, but as a two time finisher in the hotter of years (2012 and the epic 2010), I say boo. I understand why they want to. Its a fantastic venue for the race. But it is HARD. For the heat and the lack of wetsuits. Without being a stupid hard (but just hard enough) course. Kind of makes it a thousand times easier. I dunno. I just don't like it. But thats because I"m grumpy and old. |

Extreme Veteran 959 Greenwood, South Carolina | Subject: RE: IM Lou moving to October Racing IM Louisville for the first time and my first IM. I noticed registration is still open so that may be a reason (cooler IM sell out in minutes). Louisville has the highest DNF on record so it is a challenge. I am looking forward to the race. I am a southern boy so hope I withstand the heat. |

Subject: RE: IM Lou moving to October I raced IMLOU back in 2012. Despite the long walk and long wait for the wetsuit-less swim, and despite near 100 degree temps, I loved the race. Love the area. Whole family had a great time. I plan to race it again at some point. I guess moving it to October will be a good move, as the heat made for a tough run. What will be interesting is the the sunrise for 10/11/15 is 7:47 AM. You can't have folks swimming in the dark, right? |

Veteran 393 Greenville, SC | Subject: RE: IM Lou moving to October I am fine with this move. Granted yes the allure of IM Louisville was the toughness of it with the heat but if they do indeed move it to October that is great. That now would put 3 different IM races within driving distance of me all in the fall. IM Chattanooga - September IM Louisville - October IM Florida - November I think this will ease the entry into Florida even more than Chattanooga will/did. You will now have 3 different races to choose from in the southeast region. |

I always looked at IMLOU as a possible 1st time IM for me someday - but had no desire to do an Ironman in the summer heat and humidity of Louisvlle. This will definitely make me reconsider. |

You will now have 3 different races to choose from in the southeast region. I was thinking the same thing - maybe this will take some of the pressure off Florida registrations. But, there is still the idea of the "hilly" bike course at Choo and Lou. I think IMFl is popular in many respects due to the flat bike, making it a target for first timers, so it will be interesting to see. There are also new races being added to fill the space in the calendar - like Muskoka which looks like a great venue. Finally, the move will put Louisville in direct competition with two of the few remaining independent full distance races, the Great Floridian and Beach 2Battleship, and may draw down their registrations. All in all, looks like Ironman is nailing down their domination of the 140.6 distance. |
