Pre-race routine:

Just get stuff in bags and get ready.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 1h 43m 56s
  • 4224 yards
  • 02m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had back and shoulder spasm for 1 week before the race and this impacted my swim. The rough conditions didn't help.
What would you do differently?:

Health was an issue for me. I didn't know if I would even be able to finish the first lap of the swim with my back issue. Just happy I finished it.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Went to bathroom to decrease the amount of lakewater in my gut.
Bike
  • 7h 19m 51s
  • 112 miles
  • 15.28 mile/hr
Comments:

With the muscle spasm, I could not put any weight on my right hand at all for the first 10 miles of the bike and then was iffy the entire bike ride.
What would you do differently?:

Was happy to just finish the race given that my back and shoulder were so bad. The wind was pretty discouraging going uphill.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Was alright.
Run
  • 4h 36m 30s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 10m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

First lap was pretty good, back spasm issue played into my performance on the 2nd lap. Finally was down to run/walk for the last 9 miles.
What would you do differently?:

Was just happy to finish the run given the muscle issues I was having.
Post race
Warm down:

Had some food, got into some dry clothing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Was really a health issue with the back spasm and some rough wind all day.

Event comments:

Good race, water cool but OK, wind was rough on the swim and bike, fine for the run.
