Pre-race routine:

Day Off! so got to the race with time to warm up.
Event warmup:

Ran about 1/2 mile. Swam about 300 yds (they were waiting for me to get in did start the race - guess i didn't have as much time as i thought)
Swim
  • 09m 22s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

After i caught my breath it wasn't a bad swim at all. But i started at the back to give myself another few seconds. Was drafting someone out to the bouy, then they just disappeared. Tried to get on other peoples feet but wasn't all that successful.
Transition 1
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

Not fantastic, but much more respectable than last time.
Bike
  • 27m 32s
  • 4.85 miles
  • 10.57 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought i was racing decently. I think my legs were still a little spent from the week of training. think i did well taking advantage of my MTB riding skills. The hills were still tough and there was a lot of soft stuff on the trails. My big ass tires felt like they were going through mud a lot of the time.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try bringing the hard tail to see if that's any better on this course.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

eh - better, well much much better than the last time when i was doing surgery on my feet in T2. Could be better.
Run
  • 28m 39s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

A pretty solid run, until i tripped over a root at the bottom of a hill with about a 1/2 mile to go. Took a pretty good tumble. Got back up and going okay, but it kind of kills the rhythm. Especially at the bottom of a hill that i had to go up the next hill from a standstill.
What would you do differently?:

not trip? pick up my feet?
Post race
Warm down:

shower

What limited your ability to perform faster:

did a pretty good volume of training throughout the week. wanted to throw in a race for some fun. It was that.

I own both a road bike and a tri bike. I am wondering which bike I should be riding during off season training, or does it matter?
