Just read on velonews.com that Jens has "The Final Countdown" on his playlist to listen to while he's making his hour record attempt.  Thought there were a few Manatees who could relate.  You're welcome for the ear worm.   Here's his full playlist and other fun info:  http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/09/news/must-read-jens-voigts-hour-record-pacing-playlist_346360

Proof of life post.

Work is wonderfully crazy - most fun first 6 weeks of any job I've ever had!  Just getting back into a routine for working out, which is great, but with family and work I've had no time for the important stuff like BT.    Once marching band season is over, I'll be back here in more earnest...

My absolute best to my pod-mates (think of you all frequently) and I'm going to try to catch up this weekend!

Matt

Thought it might help to have a list of 1 2 3

I'm sure Janyne would be upset if she ended up reading them out of order.

Anyone going to watch it? Trekbikes.com is going to stream it live at 12CST.

I'm thinking about it.  I wonder if they'll play the music too, have commentary, or what.  His cool down music is so bittersweet.

As some of you know, I "may" be in the market for a tri bike. I am trying to keep it as low cost as possible, given that I only race a few sprints a year. So, if anyone has anything they would like to share on Blue or Felt, or on SRAM Apex or Rival components, I would love to hear it. Thesse are the first two that I am looking at, but I am a long way from narrowing it down to just these two, that's for sure.

I just squealed and gasped and alarmed Kingsley!

Because of the Pop Tarts, not the mouth pic SNEEEERK Dazzers ... yeah, I actually looked like that, but worse. Also I haven't plucked my eyebrows since ... Jakarta wedding (April). And I just shaved my legs tonight (not since Bali wedding, June).

Thanks!

I have a Felt. I like it. You know about the welding problem that I ran into earlier this year. (Surely they've addressed that in more current models!). Also, the rear brake has a tendency to get loose over time.  It's Ultegra so I can't address your other question.

I'm sure that I'm preaching to the choir here but Get Fit Before You Buy!

Judi has a Blue. TJ also has a Felt.

Hey all,

let's see just a few updates on my end

1. My job became permanent (as most of you know I had taken a risk on a 1 year assignment that may or may not turn into a permanent) anyway it did and I am now owning the Arizona, SoCal and Hawaii markets (as they relate to LEED and sustainable construction.) So, YAY!

2. Did some more bio-mechanical testing at the Brooks lab in the new HQ on Tuesday. Very cool stuff.

3. First XC race is this weekend. It's kind of a casual intro into XC, we haven't really done much specific XC style training but it should be a really good time. I am so excited. It will be interesting to see how XC plays with marathon training. Either way I am going to be happy.

That's about it, been doing a lot of hiking in prep for my summit this weekend too...which I plan to continue because it's awesome.

Ooooh one other thing. I have been eyeing my coworkers cyclocross bike. Ben I know we had talked about how much a cross bike would make sense.

It's in really good shape, hasn't actually been off road or anything: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/4663022663.html

and I can get it with no wheels for 600 (I'd like to get some more aggressive off road type tires so I can do moderate dirt roads/trails)

Does anyone have an opinion on this bike? Of course the standard things like making sure it's a good fit etc. But I don't really know if there is anything else I should look for.

Ooof. I like some 80s power ballads and whatnot but man, that looks like some cheesy jock jams album or something.

Wouldn't expect anything else from Jensie.

Congrats on the job!!  The XC racing sounds like so much fun too.  DH has has a cyclocross bike and loves it.  He doesn't do any MTB, and he uses it for everything else he does, whether road riding with me, commuting to work or riding gravel trails.  His is a Stevens with mostly 105/Ultegra components that used to belong to a racer.  He got it for $750.

Thanks, I was thinking of you and Judi. I hadn't remembered that TJ has one as well.

I'm working off some revamped numbers from my fitting a few years ago to narrow things down. All steps will be taken prior to choices being made.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
