OK, I have searched several different ways, no help. What do you all do with your car key while at the lake or ocean OWS, if you have no one to stand watch. Please, no debate on weather this is safe or not. I have seen a item called PocketBands (http://www.pocketbands.com/Pocketbands-s/1821.htm) , which is a silicone rubber wristband made to hold a key and a couple dollar bills. Has anyone used these and if so, is your key secure and don't need to worry about losing it doing strokes? Any other ideas? Lately I have made a cheap flat copy of the door key and attach it to a Paracord bracelet. I little bulky this way, looking for a better way. Thanks.

Tie it to my shorts drawstring, then tuck in into my shorts. Rides flat, and I don't even notice its there.

I think this is a great product if you have a receiver.

My best guess is something like what kayakers use such as this or something similar. You could attach it to a race belt. They are typically designed to hold air and float if they become loose, so I don't think you would want to wear it around your wrist.

Especially because so many car keys have become electronic, it seems like there would be a good solution out there.

I guess I'm to trusting. I just wrap it up in my towel and leave it on the beach.

I live in a fairly safe area, so I put it in the gas cap.
I make sure no one is looking when I do that though.

No idea where they were hiding their key, but a friend had their bike stolen out of their car doing this. If you don't have anything special in the car I wouldn't worry about total car theft, but I would worry about my bike or wallet.

Wrap it up in a diaper and leave it on the shore. Nobody will mess with a dirty diaper!

Seriously, though, key tied to drawstring is what I'd do.

You could always get a safer swimmer and stick it in their with whatever else you don't want to leave on the beach.

you gotta go Ford - the official sponsor of Ironman. they have the external door key pad so you can just lock it in your car

leave the key in the ignition with the truck running_ it's worth more if someone steals it!

Seriously I lost my keys once in a stream they where tied(double knotted) to my short and still managed to come off. Since then I have a magnetic key box under the truck with a spare key in it. Any event I go to, I just lock my keys in the car and use the spare to get in. I always double check the box is there before locking my keys in

I put my key in the gas cap, too. It's insured.

x whatever on tied to the drawstring of my jammers. Seems pretty foolproof, especially when wearing a wetsuit.

+1  (but Lincoln, instead)

Being able to lock the keys in the trunk at the beach, or even when I go to the gym, is priceless.

Beach cleanup folks might come by and throw the diaper in the trash...LOL.

I tie my key in my drawstring.  Double knot.  I've seen women just use a loop of string to go into the key, then loop it into the front of one of their shoulder straps and tuck the key under the strap.  The only way that comes off is if their shoulder strap breaks.

Stroke after stroke, my pace was pulling me out into the middle of the lake quickly. The cover seemed to be getting thicker. But still in the distance, the little boathouse was my lighthouse.
