Subject: knee surgery and half/full IM
Has anyone had chondroplasty before? My mri only showed a tad bit of roughening on the lateral side of the knee, but 90% of my pain has been medial. It's been a year and I'm debating on having the chondroplasty done. They will do a medial repair if they see something like plica or a meniscus, but I'm wandering if anyone has gone back to longer distance triathlons after this. I'd like to hear your experience. I'm just turning 36 in a couple of weeks. If I can't run long I at least want to be able to cycle. I can't really do anything right now because of the sharp intermittent pain that I would get

I got that surgery 15 years ago and it went very well, was not running at the time but 3-4 weeks later i was in gym doing squats and biking better that ever. It was a torned meniscus for me.

Considering it was so long ago i would think that today would be even better recovery.

I am dealing with quadriceps tendonitis (QT) evidently brought on by my running, and am also recovering from meniscus surgery. I would think swimming would be good, but it seems to aggravate it some?

My symptoms have been present off and on for almost two years. Is this a surgical problem, or should I just keep managing it for as long as I can?

If a heart patient can do these things, then so can those of you who haven't been split open like a fish and sewn back together.

This program should be used for an athlete who has been following the progression of the Half Iron Distance program and is 12 weeks out from their first Iron distance race.
