Had not seen this posted before, but the above is a really nice analysis of finish time that tries to put the Ironman 70.3 into "easy", "moderate", "tough" groups. Includes average times by leg, DNF %, DNS %. A handy reference.

Proud to know that I finished the toughest IM70.3 according that chart!

Ok reference but can be misleading. Certain races attract very fast athletes while others not as much. For example, Bufffalo Spring is not easy at all, but it attracts (or did) a very high level of elite AG'ers trying to get Kona slots.

And for even more comparative analysis, take me for example.

I've done RI and Eagleman both twice.  On the chart they are listed as number 1 and 2 in yellow, both with an overall time of 6:13.  My times:

RI 1 - 5:40

RI 2 - 5:38

EM 1 - 5:24

EM 2 - 5:11

Agreed, a handful of 70.3's have awarded kona spots for years. These events attract much faster athletes. If they start over with this for 2015 70.3 events it would be much better, since the kona spots will be gone for all 70.3's next year.

All true about statistics. There's lies, damn lies, and statistics.
And of course there's outliers....
Stephen Leavitt could take it to the next level and crunch it further to take out some of the things like the Kona spots...etc. by comparing to years they didn't give those out or playing with data further.

But, there is wisdom in crowds. The two that that I'm eying that are the easiest and best timing for me look to be among the 'easier' ones.
