I'm considering these shoes. Obviously even though these are designed for triathlons is there any reason why these also wouldn't be fine for everyday cycling. I'm trying to spend about $100 on my first pair of cycling shoes if you have other recommendations.

No reason at all. Tri shoes works just fine for every day cycling. Most important is that the shoe fits you well though, even more so with tri shoes as you commonly have slightly less wrap/straps around your foot (to make it easier to get in and out). An ill-fitting tri shoes will almost certainly result in blisters

Thanks for the feedback. Actually went to one of my LBS today and they had scott and Fizik tri shoes on sale for 50% off. I tried on the Scott's which were slightly cheaper than the Fizik's. They were okay and I think they fit okay and probably would have worked fine but then I tried on the Fizik K5 Uomo and they felt much lighter than the Scott's and just seemed to fit my foot better. So I ended up purchasing the Fizik's.

Sounds like you have it worked out! They will work just find for everyday use. Tri shoes are usually better ventilated than regular shoes, so in cooler/cold weather you might want to wear thicker socks or gaiters - if you are out in those weather conditions in the first place!

in florida those truly cold days are rare. I haven't ridden with my new shoes yet but they are comfortable so hopefully I'll be happy with them
