Just PR'd a tough HM Saturday (not bragging).

Legs TOASTED!!

Just got an emergency call to go into work this morning.

I do disaster restoration services: Climb stairs with heavy equipment, lifting/moving heavy furniture, extract smoke/water/mold etc...

To say I don't want to go do this right now is beyond exaggeration.

Anyone have similar experiences after or "The Day After I ..."?

Great job on the pr! That's awesome.

The worst I can remember was the day after a 70.3 I had a meeting at a local college with several of the community business leaders to discuss/plan for a community policy issue. As if the 6:30 am start wasn't absurd enough, the facilitator didn't come prepared so I was asked to step in and help capture the ideas. The only thing we had was a small easel with large post-it-notes. Not a problem until half the note was filled. To use the remaining portion, you had to contort you body into a half squat, part lunge while bending over. Painful.

I have a large family, so recovery after a race is usually cooking, cleaning & changing diapers.

My first race was a sprint, but it was an all-out effort and I had a two hour drive home. I made it home, showered, and as soon as I settled onto the couch, the phone rang. It was work with an emergency. I had to get back into the car and drive half an hour back in the direction that I had come from.

Haha omg me too!!!

Even after tough training sessions, unlike the 16yr old kids that destroy me in races... I don't get to go home and kick my feet up. I get home to 2 wild little boys and a burnt out husband. Make dinner, change diapers, clean, cook... It's brutal. D:

After that 1 hour of freedom to train my heart out, I go right back to being mom. >_<

I've done some point to point bike races, where the day after or even later that day meant that you had to ride back.

Sorry about the call.

Pretty much every time.....Get myself (and bike, if a tri) cleaned up, packed up, and transported to the airport, check-in, security, etc. Short international flight of 1 1/2 to 2 hours, immigration, baggage pickup, customs, try to find a legit cab along with a few thousand other people, about a 45 minute taxi ride (can be a lot longer if Vietnam just won a soccer game and everyone's out on the streets, or weather's bad), get home, unpack, shove laundry in washer. The next day, work all day on my feet, plus several trips up and down the 76 stairs to our classroom. Kinda used to it by now.

The worst thing I ever did post-race was fly to China from Germany the day after a marathon. That hurt.

I wouldn't have been able to get out of the seat. They would have had to carry me out in the seated position.

For me, going back to my ship (aircraft carrier) after a marathon. The ladders (up and down) were hell. Just kept saying Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
