If there is a 'recognition timing mat' prior to the finish line, they will have your name on a computer screen that they might say as you cross, along with any unique information you filled out on your registration form. Sometimes they will mention if you are a first-timer at this distance, or if you traveled a long ways, if you're racing for a charity, etc. Just depends on the race, the announcer, what information they have, and how many people are finishing at the same time. |
