I will be training for my first Ironman next year. I'm a cycling instructor and do back to back interval training Mon and then Tuesday. This hasn't hurt me on a HIM but I am a little nervous about doing the same for a full. Anyone else had this type of training in there plan and had it work. I think I need to drop class. Any thoughts?

I think you'll be okay if you factor in some recovery.

Before I dispense any further advice what does your weekend training plan look like heading into Monday and Tuesday?  How many swim, bike, and run workouts do you plan per week?

Mon cycling intervals 1 hour easy swim
Tues cycling intervals 1 hour 30 min. Run
Wed. Afternoon swim
Thursday run morning bike afternoon
Fri off
Sat swim bike run
Sun run
This is not exact but close to what I did for training for a HIM

can you fake intervals on tuesday??? I do coach a athlete in your situation and he as got rather good at making sure the tension is low during those intervals and putting on a show.....sandbagging it. it would make for a decent endurance steady workout.....

I have thought about faking it. I was going to try it out first by wearing my heart rate monitor to see what happens.

I taught cycling while HIM training, too, and faked it and also told my class that my tension would be lower but it was their workout. ) You may want to find subs for the classes right before your longest workouts (3-4 total) but otherwise the intervals will probably help you! Good luck!

It's not the intervals themselves that are a big problem, but stacking them on back-to-back days is less than ideal.  I'd consider planning to sandbag at least portions.  If you are able to trade out one of your days for something later in the week, it might be less of an issue (but still something you may have to manage at times during your training).
