  • 25m 33s
  • 1760 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt okay on the swim. Didn't really have anyone to draft off of though. Also didn't expect to be in the water that long (longer course.)
Transition 1
  • 01m 36s
Bike
  • 53m 32s
  • 20 miles
  • 22.42 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt okay on the bike. Most of it was into a headwind though so it was tough, but my averages were right around where I have been all year.
Transition 2
  • 03m 19s
Comments:

Long run out of T2.
Run
  • 32m 56s
  • 5 miles
  • 06m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I was a bit annoyed that the run was shortened from a 10k to a 5-miler, since this was the race I finally would've broken 40:00 in a 10k in. However, still had a much, much faster pace than normal. I don't think I've ever been faster than 7:04/mi so to go 6:35's, I was very happy with it.

Event comments:

Just a very good race by DelMo Sports, as usual. Mostly everything was on time. Very organized and really fun. Love racing with DelMo.

Course: The swim course definitely felt a lot longer than a mile and everyone had it as longer on their Garmin's. I was 3 minutes slower than last year, too. Definitely a long swim.

Course: 2 loop course. Sprinters did 1 loop so our Int'l first loop was great. Very little people, no congestion. Then the 2nd loop was hellish. Tons of people and sprint racers not staying all the way to the right. Lots of congestion. Also, coming in and out of transition, there was a single file line for about 1/2 - 3/4 mile. Into T2 a lady riding about 13mph on a mountain bike really slowed down the front of the pack bikers for a long time.

Nice race man... It was brutal out there on the bike heading out of town (but the 30mph heading back kind of made up for it) and the swim was definitely LONG (closer to 2000 if you ask me). If you count the run out of transition you are almost at 5.6 miles total, plus the wind makes the run time all that much better -- so sub 40 is in the bag for you.

Keep up the great work. Very impressive race against a tough field.

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.
