Just an easy going 3-4 miles run after work. My legs are shot from a Body Pump class I tried on Saturday :/

Did my last tri of the season on Saturday, so this morning I started winter maintenance. I want to focus on the run this winter to improve, as the last few runs have been sorta magical for me, and I want to keep that feeling. So, of course, today's workout was a swim!

9:30--30 min strength training (felt good to be back in the gym lifting!)
10am--2500yds in the pool

Started out the day with a bike commute to work with an extra bit through Carlsbad Oaks and Hidden Valley before turning south along the coast to work. (30 Miles)

At lunch I waded into the heat and ran through the lagoon to the beach and then up to Powerhouse Park; where I jumped in the ocean and did a quick trip out to the buoy before heading back. The tide was up so I was forced onto Stratford up and over the hill into Del Mar. This had the run a lot hotter with the sun reflecting up off of the Asphalt. (10 Mile Run, 1000 Meter Swim)

I will be bike commuting home over the same route I came on. (Another 30 Mile Ride)

Legs are feeling pretty good after a hard weekend of training in the heat. Seems like I am staying on top of my nutrition which I am sure is really helping.

Hey all!

5:15- 6 mile run.

I wish I could bottle up the feeling I had in my legs today and keep it for every race. So much energy, good quick pace, felt great the entire time and didn't even take a walk break (which I normally do). Guess yesterdays day off really worked!
Only problem was due to all the rain lately, the mosquitos almost ate me alive - yuck!

8:30 - 2200 yd in the pool. I had to get it done quick and get back to my kids school for a meeting. Again - so much energy, not tired at all and felt amazing. Seriously wish it could be like this every day!!!!

Have a great day everyone!

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

Once you caught your breath, it occurred to you that finishing even a short triathlon might be harder than you thought. After a few "laps" you thought, "I can't believe I'm so out of shape."
